The UF College of Veterinary Medicine houses more than 900 faculty members, students, and staff members who serve animals, people, the environment, and their communities through teaching, research, extension, and other activities.

Admission to the College of Veterinary Medicine requires a high level of academic achievement. Candidates are evaluated based on academic background and experience, veterinary knowledge, professionalism, overall professionalism, readiness to matriculate into UF.

Academic Ranking: Last 45, Overall and Science GPAs are used to assess applicants for admission into the D.V.M. Program and the incoming class consists of both state and self-funded students.

Emergency Veterinary Services:

The UF Small Animal Hospital has been accredited in traditional and specialty medicine. This allows them to provide high-quality specialized treatment for patients with severe disease or injuries. It is a Level 1, with the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society recognizing it. This makes it one 13 hospital in the nation to be accredited at this level.

UF Vet Emergency

The University of Florida Small Animal Hospital offers the most modern technology for emergency care and surgery. This includes digital radiography and on-site laboratories. The hospital staff includes veterinarians that specialize in emergency and critical medicine as well surgical specialties.

Field Hospitals

UF VETS is able to deploy a field hospital team to include a team leader, patient care teams, pharmacy support, technical rescue and assessment resources, as well as a base camp trailer, a field hospital equipment trailer, and field hospital treatment tents. This team can perform basic diagnostics and provide gas anesthesia. It can also transport and treat sick animals and animals in areas without a shelter. Although the field hospital is limited in capacity and does not have advanced radiography or laboratory equipment, it has supplies that will allow a UF VETS veterinarian to provide appropriate care for sick or injured animals.
